Ports & shipping organization as one of the main administrators in planning and exploitation of the country’s coasts in many cases took the initiative in the field of optimum exploitation of the county’s coasts and had prepared a compiled & multistage program in this field which carried along the definition and conducting of several infrastructural projects.

One of the most important projects is “The Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM)” that regarding its considerable dimensions and extent is in need of large amounts of data on effective parameters on the coast boundary line.

Also the Ports & Shipping organization defined “The Integrated Trading Ports Project” as one of the basic projects that needs an extensive amount of data on the coastal processes. In this direction and with the aim of providing part of the so called needs the “Iranian Sea-waves Modeling” has been defined and accomplished with the aim of providing data appropriate with the waves region in the country's coastal and marine boundary lines. In completion of such researches the Ports & Shipping Organization's general directorate of ports and coastal engineering defined an extent project called “Monitoring & Modeling Study of Iranian Coasts”.
