Iranian Port and Shipping Organization (PSO) as the main administrator in the field of port and coastal engineering and in accordance to its authority aims the following objectives in the mentioned field using national budget:

1. To generalize monitoring and modeling studies to other Iranian coastal areas, especially to the important area of the Hormuz Strait

2. To extend and complete marine observational networks based on studies conducted on optimum buoy network, in cooperation with other organizations

3. To establish a data base of domestic experts in the field of port and coastal engineering

4. To establish a data base of relevant projects in the field of port and coastal engineering which was carried out or is carrying out by other organizations

5. To revise, increase the accuracy and update wave hindcast modeling in Iranian waters

6. To complete and finalize the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) plan for Iranian coastal zones

7. To hold biennial International Conferences on Coasts, ports and marine Structures
   
   
8. To revise and update available regulations for design of ports and marine structures in cooperation with experts, consulting companies, relevant contractor companies and marine organizations.
