In view of its various components including: comprehensive filed measurements, mathematical modeling and development of a localized (Iranian) model for national and international use, present project greatly contributes to achieve a sound understanding of the respective issues of  the Iranian coasts. The overall objectives envisaged for the project involve:

.

  1.  To generate hydrodynamic and morphologic data and information to be used for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) currently being conducted by the Ports & Coasts Department, PSO.

  1. To explore current problems encountered in the coastal zones covered by the project and come up with solutions from coastal engineering point of view.

  1.  To establish a reliable database for use in designing the coastal and offshore structures as well as relevant studies within the project area.

  1.  To complete the Measurement of Marine Parameters Master Plan in the Iranian southern and northern coasts.

  1.  To develop the findings of the research previously conducted in respect of sea waves within the Iranian southern and northern coasts by the Iranian National Oceanographic Center.

  1.  To develop a reliable model for the purpose of mathematical modeling of hydrodynamic and sedimentary parameters in Iranian waters.

  1.  To conduct a close examination of Iranian coastline within the study area for future planning.
