In view of its various components including: comprehensive filed measurements, mathematical modeling and development of a localized (Iranian) model for national and international use, present project greatly contributes to achieve a sound understanding of the respective issues of the Iranian coasts. The overall objectives envisaged for the project involve:
.
- To generate hydrodynamic and morphologic data and information to be used for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) currently being conducted by the Ports & Coasts Department, PSO.

- To explore current problems encountered in the coastal zones covered by the project and come up with solutions from coastal engineering point of view.

- To establish a reliable database for use in designing the coastal and offshore structures as well as relevant studies within the project area.

- To complete the Measurement of Marine Parameters Master Plan in the Iranian southern and northern coasts.

- To develop the findings of the research previously conducted in respect of sea waves within the Iranian southern and northern coasts by the Iranian National Oceanographic Center.

- To develop a reliable model for the purpose of mathematical modeling of hydrodynamic and sedimentary parameters in Iranian waters.

- To conduct a close examination of Iranian coastline within the study area for future planning.
